Primitive Fit afterschool program
Every Monday @ The Calgary Central Sportsplex 3:30-6 PM
OUR MISSION
Primitive Fit builds healthier, safer communities by empowering youth through preventive wellness programs rooted in fitness, sports, self-defense, and mentorship. We foster strong bodies, resilient minds, and positive habits that prevent violence, support mental health, and reduce future health challenges.
-
Primitive Fit is a community health initiative that integrates preventive health and Blue Zone principles into the foundation of our communities to address one of the most far-reaching challenges we face as a society—the public health and wellness crisis.
Through fitness, mentorship, and purposeful connection, we focus on long-term, sustainable solutions that improve physical health, mental well-being, and community resilience.
Program Goals:
Improve public health outcomes
We aim to reduce chronic disease while improving physical health, mental health, and resilience with long-term, measurable impact.Support families and parents
We provide youth with a safe, structured environment during the critical after-school hours from 3–6 PM—when students are out of school, parents are still working, and families need reliable support.Reduce strain on public infrastructure
By improving physical and mental health and preventing violence and crime, our programs help lessen reliance on public healthcare systems and reduce long-term taxpayer burden.Build communities from the inside out
We empower youth with purpose, respect, and accountability—learning from elders, fostering social connection, staying active, building resilience, and embracing a simpler, healthier way of living.

Using Preventive Health & Blue Zones Principles.
“Blue Zones” are regions of the world where people live significantly longer—often reaching 100+ years—while maintaining remarkable health and vitality. Research shows that this longevity is closely tied to shared values, daily habits, and strong social connections that support physical, mental, and social well-being.Our Community Health Initiative is grounded in these proven principles:
Cultivating purpose and meaning
Learning respect and tradition from our elders
Fostering strong social connections
Staying healthy, active, and strong
Building resilience and adaptability
Learning to live simply

Inspired by evidence-based Blue Zones principles, we deliver an after-school program that integrates preventive health strategies through time-tested, ancestral approaches to wellness, including fitness, sport, self-defense, and mentorship.
“Exercise is by far the most potent longevity “Drug”. No other intervention does nearly as much to prolong our lifespan and preserve our cognitive and physical function”
